CBTU Buffalo
COALITION OF BLACK TRADE UNIONIST
The President's Welcome Message
Robert Mootry Jr.
On behalf of the Buffalo chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, I welcome you to our Website.
We have been truly blessed this year.
- One, we raised over $2,000 for scholarships presented here tonight to three deserving students;
- Two, we reaffirm our mission to “work in coalition with organized labor and other allies to achieve economic, political and social justice for every American and we rededicate ourselves to this goal;
- Three, we continue to use our resources in the community to assist with organizing drives. This includes the ever-critical “Get out the Vote” and other important campaigns;
- In order to strengthen the Labor Movement, we absolutely must join with others to fight the anti-union, anti-worker forces. We must be vigilant to increase awareness of people who have a stake in our society and we must be visibly active in our own commitment to the CBTU mission and goals.
A quote of Martin Luther King, Jr.
“There is nothing more dangerous than to build a society, with a large segment of people in that society, who feel that they have no stake in it; who feel that they have nothing to lose. People, who have a stake in their society, protect that society, but when they don’t have it, they unconsciously want to destroy it.”
